It takes a special person. Our parents gave us more than life.  They took care of us during sleepless nights, worried about our health as they rushed to see a doctor to cure our ills and pains and stayed up as we practiced independence during the challenging teenage years.  It is time to give back to them!! Our parents now need us – whether due to a chronic illness or advanced age, their health at times necessitates assistance with bathing, grooming, or toileting.  These are very personal tasks and few of our parents would allow a stranger to help them with these daily needs.  For those who can’t work outside of home because their parent needs a very rigorous daily support, Missouri legislature approved Consumer Directed Services. The older population—persons 65 years or older—numbered 44.7 million in 2013 (the latest year for which data is available). They represented 14.1% of the U.S. population, about one in every seven Americans. By 2060, there will be about 98 million older persons, more than twice their number in 2013. People 65+ represented 14.1% of the population in the year 2013 but are expected to grow to be 21.7% of the population by 2040. The information in this section of the AoA website brings together a wide variety of statistical information about this growing population.  Our agency is growing and looking to expend to your region.  If you are interested in becoming a home care aide, a provider of nursing services, or an on the job trainer, please, contact us for details.
